Employer Responsibilities for Apprenticeship Programs
The following outlines the key responsibilities for employers participating in the apprenticeship program:
- Complete the “Request an Apprentice” Form

- Coordinate with the Apprenticeship Coordinator
- For guidance and support throughout the process, employers are encouraged to connect with the Apprenticeship Coordinator, Andrea DeLeon Contact: [email protected]
- Coordinate with the Faculty Facilitator
- Faculty are encouraged to share the “Request an Apprentice” form with employer contacts who may be interested in hosting apprentices.
- Connect with the Facilitator to report any challenges or successes for the Apprentice during the Apprenticeship in case additional Austin Community College resources are needed.
- Sign Apprenticeship Agreements
- Employers must review and sign all required apprenticeship agreements, which include:
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Appendix A: Work Schedule/Training Plan
- Appendix D
- Employers must review and sign all required apprenticeship agreements, which include:
- Submit Additional Documentation (if applicable)
- For Registered Apprenticeships, additional documents may be required by the U.S. Department of Labor approval process.
- Develop and Approve the Training Plan
- Add on-the-job training competencies to Appendix A, and review and approve the final training plan and timeline.
- Implement the Apprenticeship Program
- Deliver mentorship and ensure structured on-the-job training is in place.
- Conduct Student Evaluations
- Use the On-the-Job Competency Tracking Form to evaluate apprentice performance.
- The Apprenticeship Coordinator will provide a tracking form once the apprentice has officially begun their program.
- Submit Evaluations Promptly (Best Practice)
- Employers are encouraged to submit student evaluations (tracking forms) one to two weeks prior to the end of each academic semester and at the conclusion of the apprenticeship. These evaluations help verify the apprentice’s progress and confirm successful completion of the program.
