Faculty Support
Faculty Support
The Apprenticeship Department, housed within the Office of Experiential Learning (OEL), provides comprehensive support to faculty in developing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality apprenticeship experiences across academic and continuing education programs. This partnership ensures that apprenticeships meet institutional, state, and federal standards while supporting student career readiness.
Key areas of support include:
- Faculty Development & Training:
OEL offers required and optional training modules to prepare faculty for apprenticeship facilitation, covering regulatory compliance, instructional best practices, and national competencies (e.g., NACE). - Employer Partnership Management:
The department maintains and updates a Master List of vetted employers and assists with outreach, job description development, wage verification, and document preparation (MOUs, Appendix A/D). - Student Matching & Marketing Support:
Faculty receive guidance on how to match students with employers and are supported in creating program marketing materials in collaboration with the Office of Faculty Communications. - Onboarding & Agreement Oversight:
OEL assists faculty in submitting and managing formal Apprenticeship Agreements to ensure all placements are properly documented and accessible. The Apprenticeship Department will maintain the Employer Agreement Repository for Austin Community College for both Academic and Continuing Education Programs. - Monitoring & Issue Resolution:
The Apprenticeship Coordinator provides ongoing support for tracking student progress, gathering employer feedback, and resolving any issues in partnership with academic departments. - End-of-Semester Reporting & Evaluation:
Faculty are supported in completing required tracking forms and are encouraged to provide program feedback to continually improve apprenticeship offerings.
Through these collaborative efforts, the Apprenticeship Department empowers faculty to deliver meaningful, career-aligned experiences for students while strengthening connections with industry partners.
